Please forgive another wanna be CC'er. I've got a few questions maybe y'all could help me out with. I was arrested for a DWI around about 10-12 years ago and I know I need a copy of something from the clerk of court even though it was expunged. What exactly do I ask for when I go? Disposition? Minutes from the court? The bad part is I have no idea what the case number is or exactly when it was. I learned my lesson and moved on. Also is there still a lifetime permit available? What is the thoughts on the bass pro class? Any tips learned along the way of current cc holders?

Definitely get a "true" copy of the filed "Motion and Order for Expungement" You will need that throughout your life for other crap; and if you don't you will have it when you do!

Go to LSP headquarters and get a background check. $35

Get case info from background check and go to Clerk's office.

Get the Bill of Charges and the Minutes. $15

    Include with CHP application

Found out I had a misdemeanor charge from 1973 that was Article 894'd. Attached it to the CHP application and was good to go.

If you are in or near Livingston Parish and are considering the Bass Pro Class you may want to consider the class held at the LPSO range the 3rd Saturday of each month.

If you look at section paragraph 8 on about the 3rd or 4th page it appears that after 5 years it goes away.

Not chronically and habitually use alcoholic beverages to the extent that his normal faculties are impaired. It shall be presumed that an applicant or permittee chronically and habitually uses alcoholic beverages to the extent that his normal faculties are impaired if the applicant has been found guilty of, or entered a plea of guilty or nolo contendere to operating a vehicle while intoxicated, or has been admitted, either voluntarily or involuntarily, for treatment as an alcoholic, within the five-year period immediately preceding the date on which the application is submitted, or at any time after the application has been submitted

I take that to mean that they could have denied me for the five years after the ruling of my case. I'm under the impression that it never goes away from record just public record because of the expungement. I'm sure I'm just making this harder than it really is I just want to do it the right way.
