Mounts for a daniel defense

Bought a DD M4v2 last week and i want to put a 2.5 leupold on it, what rings and mounts would i need to clear front post? Is the front post removable? Thanks for any help.

Have you looked at Larue mounts yet? I have an ACOG 4x clone on my AR with the front sight post still mounted and you can barely see it through the optic.

I did, but I didn't think it was tall enough and I have not seen one in person.

You'll definately want a cantilever scope mount like the Laure LT-104. Bobro, American Defense, Warne, and a host of others make something similar depending on your price range. I believe leupold offers their own Mark 2 IMS Integral Mounting System if you want to stick with the same mfr. Check to see what ring size you need. I believe leupold regularly uses 1" instead of the now more common 30mm tube body so beware when ordering.

Leave the front post for now. It'll become a slight blur at that magnification and you might be able to live with it. That'll be your judgement call. If not, then think about replacing the front sight block.
