These are my wife's favorite three handguns, she keeps one with her all the time when I'm not here, plus she shoots better than me.

The one in question is the center one, which was produced during the early 1940's. The barrel had been cut to thee inches and the sight put back. I vaguely remember someone telling me that the barrel's were cut on the K frame .38 special for pilots or plainclothes detectives working for the feds. I don't know if this is true, but someone may have the answer (LSP972 ?)

    Thanks

Sexy indeed. They want a grand for this one. How much were they new at the time?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I had a few, I wish I still had, Model 27 & 58 . I remembered a few of you guys carrying 29's, Jean Claude (old friend before LSP) was one, now that was a nut, I laugh just thinking about him. He died way too young .

(Sighs) 2006 or 2007 I picked up an early 27 for $300 out the door in Mobile.

Passed it off to a buddy who wanted one for a .44 Special conversion. Turns out it was one of the more rare variants and he won't give it back!
(He's a purist too, and can't bring himself to convert it. It's near mint. It's the closest I can come to regretting selling a gun (And I let him have it for the $300 I had in it) And about the only S&W I've ever sold!
If It wasn't eventually going to my Godson I probably would!

IIRC it had the cokebottle target grips too!
