Cheap chinese crap. I'd avoid it. Never go cheap on glass. I don't think I have ever heard any good things about them. The only one I had would lose zero after every range trip, and I had it on a .22. Threw it in the garbage.

Nothing you get is going to be the quality of an ACOG for that price range.

IMHO, with these types of things, I only buy stuff I would trust my life on... NcStar doesn't rate that highly for me.

it doesnt have to be as high quality as an ACOG. i was just looking for something that would be functional at a decent price. $1200 is a bit much for me to spend on a scope that will shoot more paper and hogs than anything else. especially on a college budget....

A buddy of mine has an ACOG look-a-like from NCSTAR on his 556, and never hears the end of it from the rest of his friends. It's only a temporary optic, as even he knows it needs to be replaced. From what he says, he hasn't had any problems with it, but I certainly wouldn't trust my life to it. He's got about 2k rounds with it mounted, which isn't that much of a sample size. The 556 is also heavy and piston operated, so the recoil from a DI AR or Mini might have a different effect.

As for Optics Planet, you should without a doubt call them before placing an order and make sure the item you want is in stock. While they will eventually get it and ship it out to you, there's nothing more frustrating than a bogus e-mail about having just sold out of an item. You'll save yourself a lot of headache by just ordering over the phone. They do have solid customer service.

does anybody hav a recomedation for a decent priced scope then....
an ACOG on a mini seems a little odd to me... how about the leupold Mark AR calibrated for .223?

not exactly the look but it seem high quality.

ive got one on my dpms 556, its deff not an acog. it was only 80 bucks so i figured id give it a shot until i saved up enough for an acog. the only bad part is when you put a fresh battery in it, the reticle is too bright and it lights up the whole scope tube makes a hard time to see, but after it wears down its not too bad. ive shot about 1000 rounds through my ar and it stays zeroed. but ill be purchasing an acog soon and this can reside on something else i find to put it on then.

I had a NCStar years ago and that was the biggest piece of crap I ever had. Would not hold a zero through even 2 shots. It never tracked right and never.....EVER got me where I wanted to be.

I have heard they have upped their product and was doing better in recent years but I will never know because I never intend to buy another.

I learned a long time ago.....get the best scope you can afford. Even if you cant afford much there are still much better products out there than the NCStar brand.
