I have a .308 barrel that I want to have shortened and end threaded for flash suppressor.
Anyone out there know someone who can help?

Ted at Ritten Precision in Houma can also do it. He builds some killer precision rifles.

PM me if you want his cell or shoot him a pm here on the forum.

Did my first last week. Threading with the lathe is a lot of fun. I have done quite a few aks with a die (adjustable split die works well). Really need to buy 1/2 28 and 5/8 24 dies to do the ar stuff.

That might be ok for a flash hider but please do not let anyone put a suppressor on that. They will likely have a baffle or end cap strike.

Suppressor threads need to be single point cut to the proper specifications. Even if a die were to cut them perfectly perpendicular with the bore, they would most likely be too small or too large for a such a specific tolerance.

Not to mention the threads will be cut roughly concentric with the OUTSIDE diameter rather than the bore, and AKs are bad for having quite off-center bores.
