While this is not binding case law as it is in the 6th circuit, I would make an educated guess it gets referenced a few times here in the 5th cir. The super simple, down-n-dirty case brief is you can't just be stopped for open carrying and some ninny, ignorant of open carry being legal, calls 911 on you.

A well written decision. For those who care about liberty, it's a good idea to download, read, and commit its logic to memory.
I hope the plaintiff, Northrup, is successful at trial.
Too bad the pissy motorcyclist, Rose, can't be held to account.

This decision/opinion is not representative of a blurred legal issue in so much as it is symptomatic of a hyper-inflated antagonism by the media and the holier-than-thou anti-gun crowd. These incidents happen because rather than a complainant take the time to actually learn the firearms laws in their particular areas or states, they hear a sound bite from a douche politician or a deliberately slanted newscast, and they use that unfounded knowledge and ignorance to put forth their idea of what is legal.

Nonetheless, there is never a reason IMHO, for the cops not to know the firearms laws in their own jurisdiction BEFORE elevating the issue to a lawsuit.
