Hello, I'm Matt. I am new to the area and forgive me if this is not the correct place on the forum to be posting this. I am looking for a range near to New Orleans(Lakeside Mall) to start shooting at. I would also like to make a friend or two to go shoot with. It would be nice to find something with at least 100yd or more; preferably 300+. I have a M1A, AR-15, Mossberg 930, couple of automatic 12ga Brownings, 1911, 92fs, and an FNX-9. Would be nice also to find a place that does some competitions too, or has metal targets. I also reload and it'd be nice to have someone to compare loads with.

There are a couple of indoor ranges in the metro area. I make a weekly visit to one right now and would be glad to meet you there. Not much for rifles in the metro area, but there are some good options a little further out. PM incoming and Semper Fi.

Around Metairie there are only really 2 options. Shooters Club and Jefferson Gun. Both I believe owned by the same people.

    Jefferson Gun

They only allow handguns and .22 rifles.

There is an indoor range in Marrerro but last time I went it sucked. They had no ventilation but they do allow rifles up to .458 win mag.

In my opinion the best bang for your buck would be Honey Island Shooting Range. $6 to shoot all day and if you can drag out to the field you can shoot it. It's a little bit of a drive to Pearl River from Metairie but well worth it.

I live in midcity and here are my places.
Honey island in Slidell for shooting rifles and/or pistols. Watch out for the WLF officers because they will ticket people without hunting licenses since it is on a WMA. ~$5 all day
Shooters club for pistols when I don't need to shoot my rifles. ~$15/hour

I am planning on going to Nick's when they start up their competitions again in Jan. I never competed before but I did go there once in 2009. I recall a 300m+ range a buddy was telling me about but it was a drive from New Orleans. There is a private club if you lived in St. Benard but I don't even try to go there for certain reasons.
