I didn't read the WAFB report I read The Advocate report and it looks like it worked fine the guy was trying to get out behind the truck. Maybe he needs to learn how it works.
There's 2 security cameras that monitor that gate. It's fairly obvious he thought he could pass behind the truck like they do at those gated apartment complexes, his speed was the reason he was so badly banged up. Good thing he wasn't faster, that would've been coming up under his seat. AND he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
Do they have a sign posted, something along the lines of mandatory stop or no piggy back entry? Even though it's wrong, many people double enter at gated areas.
Beining one that works on those systems, it's always OPERATOR ERROR ! I have never seen the software fail, it has always done it's job. Either the driver or the person at the manual controls made a mistake. With that said, usually the property owner (in this case the state, or US) foots the bill. Judging from the video there are no card readers at this exit point. My money is on a gaurd not paying attention and hitting the UP bollard button !
