Our cat of 14 years passed recently from lukemia.
For quite some time the wife has wanted a small dog for a camping companion (cats don't camp well), but the cat wouldn't have put up with it.
One door closes, another opens. While at the vet, one of the office girls mentioned a 3 month old puppy that an elderly lady couldn't care for and had dropped off.
Welcome ChiChi, a longed haired Chihuahua/Dachsund mix.

Good God, does the front end of that dog take if when she runs? Those are some ears...

Cute pup, and little dogs make great watchdogs.

We have a 14 year old chi-wee ourselves (Chihuahua-Weenie). I was always a big-dog man. Got ours from a similar situation and I winced a bit when we did.

Smartest dog I've ever owned. Treats the children like they were her own from when they were born -- falls asleep with them every night in turn before telling me to go to bed LOL!

I'm sorry to hear of your loss but I hope this dog gives you all the joys ours has given us.

I had a Border Collie years ago and this dog is at least as smart. 2 days to house break. She has figured out that A) napping in my lap means total control of my movement, and B) when the uniform comes out I am leaving for work. So when I sit to put my boots on she jumps in my lap and pretends to be asleep so I won't leave.
