Norinco np18(hi power)

What's the verdict on these? I really want a hi power, but the funds are not there. I've read with some tlc and elbow grease they can be as good as the FN version. I've seen prices from $300-$600 on them.

Hate to say it, but avoid that one if possible.
If you do buy one, use only as a range toy, not for self defense.
Norinco does have some fantastic firearms, but this is not one of them.
(Norinco did a lot of experimentation with this model and there is even a Chinese police model that cocks from the triggerguard...)

FEG makes a decent hi power clone that is in your asking range.
Might want to check that model out.

I agree completely.
Prior to posting above I did a quick intenet search but did not find any definite hits in that price range.
There is a person on gunbroker selling surplus hi powers starting in that price range but they are auctions (not buy it now type) that will likely go much higher.
Could be a good idea to watch those.

Check out these surplus from Bud's. The CZ75 is sweet and a steal at that price. But they also have FEG hi power and I can attest to the fact that they are quality. They also have Kareen and Arcus turn ins.
