I sure hope this passes, this was in the Advocate:
On Nov. 6, voters will go to the polls all across the United States to elect numerous candidates and decide many issues. In Louisiana, we have several constitutional amendments to consider.

One amendment consideration goes to the heart and soul of our founding document of freedom; the U.S. Constitution. Proposed La. Amendment 2, when passed by a yes vote will provide Louisianans with the strongest guarantee of the right to keep and bear arms.

Proposed improvements to Article 1, Section 11 of the Louisiana Constitution, known as the Right to Keep and Bear Arms Amendment, would amend the Louisiana Constitution to state: *The right of each citizen to keep and bear arms is fundamental and shall not be infringed. Any restriction on this right shall be subject to strict scrutiny.*

Why is this necessary you ask? The answer is simple; the current version has flaws in the wording which exposes vulnerabilities that judicial bodies and legislative bodies who believe that our right to bear arms is not fundamental, as the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed, may and could use the current verbiage in the Louisiana Constitution to severely restrict our right to do so in the future. If you are a legal gun owner, firearms enthusiast, hunter, sportsman or just a defender of freedom and the right of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves, their loved ones, their firearms, and their heritage; please join me and millions of others by voting yes on 2 on Nov. 6. Let’s take a stand and set the standard for all other states to envy and follow by creating the toughest guarantee of our right to keep and bear arms in the entire United States.
