    It all started with registration. If anybody asks, I don't have any weapons at my house. I sold them all and can't find the bill of sale.

    I lived in Manhattan from '06 to the end of '12. I got the long gun permit so I could own a rifle and shotgun for hunting upstate. Most people I knew up there were fine with me having guns but were indifferent to gun ownership in general.

    There are roughly 30k rifle/shotgun permit holders in a city of 8.3 million people. To say the majority do not care is an understatement. That is why these laws should be state by state. Their culture (gun or other) is different than that of other locations in the country. If they want different laws on various things, go for it. Just do act like everyone else in the country should follow. Well, guess that is my .02.
