    It's a long read.
Under the agreement currently being advocated by the Obama administration, American corporations would continue to be subject to domestic laws and regulations on the environment, banking and other issues. But foreign corporations operating within the U.S. would be permitted to appeal key American legal or regulatory rulings to an international tribunal. That international tribunal would be granted the power to overrule American law and impose trade sanctions on the United States for failing to abide by its rulings.

And before we start the circle jerk:

Obama's Republican opponent in the 2012 presidential elections, Mitt Romney, has urged the U.S. to finalize the deal as soon as possible.

The joke is when you thought you had a choice.

Yeah, what's wrong with hufflepuff besides their overt leftism? If they printed it, it means they really don't like it. It's one of the biggest obama defending bastions on the internet (save for democrat underground, TPM, CBS, NBC, ABC, Daily Kook, CNN, MSNBC, etc...).

So...uhm...is it better to be sold down the river by a R or D? If this is what the debate is about, i'll leave the circle jerk to the more experienced guys.

isolationism is silly, no doubt. Free trade and no entangling alliances (hm...where did I hear that before?) would be ideal.

Instead, we have both parties chomping at the bit to give away our sovereignty. Money, bro. Money.

    ********!

I'm in Hermosillo, Mexico right now and there is no way in Hades you could compete with the wages here. Period.

"Free Trade" is for the egg heads in academia. Just like they soft sell Communism they soft sell this **** to the unsuspecting and gullible.

Tariffs were to pay for Federal Govt. It was also to protect our industry from the industrial and economic giant of the day - Merry F'g England.

Be sure to keep your head on straight, in that s***hole. Shucks, just keep it on, period.

Thanks, brother. I've been driving around some. I can start - and might - about my experiences. Cool place; potentially dangerous place - especially on the outskirts of the city and, obviously, in the small bars along or adjacent to the poor neighborhoods.

That's called managed trade. Government intervention in markets and generally using croynism to protect companies that would normally fail in an unmanaged market. It's yet another form of bailout.

I understand the argument and i'm not disputing your take, but the less government, the better. However we manage that without inciting a trade war (which the consumer always loses), the better.

Isn't it "government for the people, by the people, of the people"? Whatever happened to that? What about, "when government no longer represents the people it should be torn down and started over"? I'm sure I read that some where.. I think it may have even been one of the framers of the constitution... Someone enlighten me...

Just got back to the good ole USA and I'll say this about "free trade"; it doesn't work.

The Mexican worker works hard - even in a plant in the Sonora Desert. The engineers are like ours: good at what they know. Knowledge is one thing. Experience is another. They don't take Initiative to the same degree we do here.

I did not ask but the worker make $8 [per day] according to some. I remember that figure some years ago. They get bus rides to work and they get free lunch in an air conditioned plant where the outside temp was 42 to 43 degrees Celsius [109 F]. The engineers probably make $30k if I had to guess.

NONE of us can compete against that. We will keep working with them to improve their process control we will hand over technology and "Voila!" our jobs will NEVER return.

    Personal Note:

The women were stupendously gorgeous and very feminine. [The **** that passes for "femininity" in our society boggles my mind. It's all "soft porn" and passive aggressive plays of control].

The people were especially kind, polite and helpful. Especially if you showed interest in them and their culture.

    Lots of stray dogs.

The police are feared by all - unless you are born into a powerful family in that state.

Federales rode around without GPMGs mounted but they were "everywhere" as were the local police. I even saw their ERT guys riding around on occasion.

Their poor were absolutely destitute compared to our poor; probably equivalent to the poor that makes us gasp - not realizing how bad some have it.

    The food was phenomenal!

I'd transfer for a year if possible.
