o u got me brah. go turn back on walton & johnson before your brain explodes due to all of the knowledge in this thread.
Your knowledge is nothing but the ******** that's been fed to you since you were born, probably by your parents and definately by the "education system".
I work as a hiring manager for an Inland Tug Boat Company. I hire deckhands all the time. The job is physically taxing, hard, and dangerous. Off the street with no experience of any kind, the job pays $35,000/yr and offers full health benefits after 90 days. There are raises at 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. If the employee performs well enough and makes it a year, their salary at that point is $46,000. Every year our company puts at least 2 deckhands into an apprentice program to get their Captain's license. A deckhand has to have minimum of 2 years on deck to qualify for an apprentice license. As Apprentice Mates, they now make $58,000 a year. After 18 months of training, if they successfully train and meet the requirements, they receive their Mate Pilot license. A Mate Pilot makes $111,000/yr or more depending on the Horsepower of the boat they run. Nothing is given to any of these people. They earn every dollar and promotion they get.
The Moral of all this is there are jobs with great opportunity for immediate and long term success. People just have to be able to put forth the effort to get and keep them. In approximately 5 years, you can go from not knowing **** to a 6 figure a year job in my industry. All you have to do is show up everyday, do your job to the best of your ability, and learn from those around you. It's not rocket science.
