Hey Fellas! Im going to book a trip to the Gulf this year and wanted to get some input from yall on off shore guides. Anyone have recommendations? Im interested in Marlin and yellowfiin but would like to find someone that can take us for other species during the trip. Thanks for your help!

I mostly went with "The Southerner" (Steve Tomney) but it's actually three 65 ft boats now. Always did good with those guys. Never enjoyed a trip out on the Hardison boats at all. They are all out of Fourchon. That being said, I haven't been in almost 5 years. Just too dang expensive now.

Capt. Peace Marvel (peacekeepercharters.com) is on my "bucket list". Have fun and tell us your fish story after your trip!

A co worker had a trip planned this pass winter, found out we couldn't bring our own gear. Kinda sucks when you have thousands of dollars worth of gear. Trip was then canceled due to high seas.

I gotta side with the charter on this one. Even when I take friends fishing with me no matter the target 90% of what they bring is crap, and this is for sac a lait, bass, catfish, specs or red fishing, I'd prefer they use my gear. If you develop a relation ship with a guide service I could see that changing and I understand it doesn't apply to everyone.

Peace is one of the best.
