One of our members and his family have been turned upside down recently due to a home invasion gone wrong, for the bad guys! But it has also turned their families lives upside down. ibwaldo Needs our help and all of us at xdtalk.com want to show him our support.
We are setting up a fund to help ibwaldo and his family. We will be contributing to the fund and we hope that you all will do what you can to help our fellow member. To help, we will be raffling off an xdtalk t-shirt, Crossbreed Holster and Belt. We will randomly draw from the members who participate in this fund raiser for our member in distress. Please help us put a little security back into ibwaldo life by showing we care. Thanks for all the help. This fund raiser will run till November 26th. Please get your donations in as soon as possible. Thank you all again for the help.

Having read most of the thread on XDTalk I can say - those are some illiterate m-f-ers. I have never seen so many misspellings in my life! Real dumb ones too.
Maybe an LEO could explain why they keep the gun for up to 2 years? Would they take all other guns in the home if something like this happens or just the one used?
Maybe we could start a list of pro gun/self defense attorneys in a separate thread.
Believe it or not, it takes about two years for these things to go to trial and be done, and actually, two years is kinda fast.
SInce it was set for trial, the gun was evidence and will not be released until the conclusion of the trial. If there are appeals and such, it literally could take 5-10 years. That is why people always say to have a second gun because if you are involved in a shooting, your gun goes bye-bye-until it is done.
FYI, the same thing happens for cops. If you are involved ina shooting, your gun is logged into evidence generally until the conclusion of the investigation and/ or trial. Normally a new gun is issued to the officer if/when hegoes back to armed duty.
Guns from LEO's in LA that goto LSP are there for less then a week now... LSP972 does the ballistics, inspection, etc whatever he does and the are returned to service. JPSO may be differant since the operate thier own CSL
That is very interesting, and nice to know at the same time. That will make my justification for having multiple weapons that much more convincing. Now from what you are saying they will not confiscate all your weapons, just the one involved in the shooting?

Interesting fact:
Psychologically speaking, they shouldn't wait to issue a new weapon. I've read several studies that show that it is more often than not viewed as a "punishment" to the officer involved in the shooting. It makes them feel like they did wrong, and makes them bitter, and impacts them negatively in the emotional healing process from dealing with the shooting.
Studies show that officers issued a new weapon immediately upon surrendering the duty weapon used, that they are able to return quicker to duty, and with less emotional impact in both professional and personal life.
