Vermiform.....About the elevation sickness. I am a nonsmoker but did have asthma as a youth. My riding partner and I are 57 and 62. We did a lot of aerobic excersizing through the summer as we had our behinds handed to us a couple of years ago. We drive there and spend the first night in New Mexico. This makes the elevation gain gradual. We both wear hydrobladders and drink lots a water. That really helps as I can wet my mouth anytime. We also snack on small amounts of food. We don't drink hard and we have been plan lucky!

No CO for me either this year. I'll miss Ouray but I think Arkansas will get our week and money this fall.

Yup, we overnighted on the way up there too last year. It made a huge difference. We are also looking at the Ozarks this year, but probably closer to November.

    Not so fast, Bucko!

    Smothered Green Parrot

    Ingredients:
    Servings: 6

    Units: US
    6 Green Parrot
    6 tablespoons butter
    3 tablespoons flour
    2 cups chicken broth
    1/2 cup sherry wine
    salt and pepper

    Directions:
1 Note: 12 parakeets can be substituted for the 6 green parrot.
2 Season the parrot with salt and pepper.
3 Melt butter in a heavy skillet and brown the parrot.
4 Remove the parrot to a baking dish.
5 Add flour to the butter in the skillet and stir to combine.
6 Slowly add the chicken broth, sherry, salt and pepper.
7 Mix well and pour over the parrot.
8 Cover and bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes - 1 hour or until the parrot are done.
9 This is very good served over rice with some homemade biscuits.
