    (2) It shall not be a violation of this section for any person over the age of eighteen (18) years to carry a firearm or deadly weapon concealed in whole or in part within the confines of his own home or his place of business, or any real property associated with his home or business or within any motor vehicle.

I got reamed out a few times for telling customers @ academy that they could have a gun concealed and loaded in their car. MY f!#king manager kept telling me the gun had to unloaded. The sad part was when i asked my department manager how much he knew about hunting and fishing, he told "oh not too much, but my experience in retail matters more." Thats one of the biggest reasons im not there now.

I open carried in Academy when I bought my 10/22...sat there & talked with them for 15 mins and they never noticed...my paperwork is getting filled out and they notice, then it becomes some fragile situation all of a sudden(The guy that sold me the 10/22 said 'Holy!"...after he noticed the managers escorting me out lol)...had to get managers to escort me out and tell me not to carry in there, or if I wanted to I could tell a manager & give them my ammo when I enter the store. lol

tards...I don't like that place, and I very very very rarely ever go there anymore.

It's a sad day when a sporting goods store doesn't support gun rights.

how long ago was that? was it the one on siegen?. I remember them escorting this old creole man out of the building. He came to see if we carried ammo for the Five-Seven, and I was like the Five- who...he went out to his car to get it. Before he could get back to the gun rack the store manager stopped him. Grant it he could've simply brought in a round or two, but **** why not bring in the whole firearm.

I always found it ironic when I've bought guns at Academy or Cabelas when they walk you out, if only they knew I'd been carrying since I walked in the door.

I always find peoples reactions funny, very few people ever react negatively...and the ones that do are fun to watch. you can see all of the terrifying thoughts going through their mind. I cant help but laugh and think to myself...'grow some balls, you self-made victim'.

I am going to get my CCW(everything filled out and shipped off), that is February's goal.

even more ironic, being walkied to the front register of Wal-Mart with .22 ammo when I'm carrying a bit more than that. Also nice to be I.D.'d for legal age for target ammo at Wal-Mart when you have a perfectly good and fully loaded pistol with hollow points already on you

    Oh. My. God.
So I tried to have a rational discussion with the lady at work today. Honest to God I really did. I am pretty sure she is one of THOSE.
I am going to post more later. But dear God. I am still recovering from the stroke I nearly had today.

The Academy in Kenner does not seem to mind you carrying in-store. A few good friends work there and will have customers bring in the weapon to help them find the right holster in-store. Which I feel is great!

Ok so. Me and anti-gun crazy woman from work had a calm reasonable discussion yesterday, about [law abiding, etc people] carrying guns in public.

Her opinion of the issue boils down to: there is so much crazy stuff going on in the world, that people will assume someone with a gun is up to no good, and it may scare people. So no one should carry a gun in public, unless it is in the open and there is a badge next to it, because only the police have enough training to be able to carry a gun in public.

    I mean. Seriously People.

Thankfully I had to leave the office to go run some errands for work. Because otherwise I would have had a stroke.

Right when I was leaving, our church's (she and I go to same church) assistant pastor come by to get some tax forms we had leftover, and I learned he was a sworn LEO (part-time). He asked if I had my CCW permit, and I told him I didn't need one as it was my place of business.
He said he "didn't know about that..." since I wasn't the owner, that's what he "thought it meant."

When I came back thankfully we didn't continue the discussion, but she mentioned she agreed with what he "thought" about the law, that it only meant the owner of a business can carry there.

I told her about a quote that I might have heard here (LC?) that summarized my thoughts on the matter: "asking a cop for legal advice is like looking for drinking water in an outhouse."

Relevant law: MS code section 97-37-1:
    (2) It shall not be a violation of this section for any person over the age of eighteen (18) years to carry a firearm or deadly weapon concealed in whole or in part within the confines of his own home or his place of business, or any real property associated with his home or business or within any motor vehicle.

That is another poorly written law, in my opinion. If it said "business or place of employment," that would have removed the doubt. As it is, I can see how someone could interpret it like they did.

Not that I agree, I can just see why they would read it like that.

You know, they walk with me to the registers when I buy ammo from there...
