Gun grease definitely has applications such as your BCG, trigger and slide or bolt rails, but I prefer a good moly grease. I’m not a fan of Lithium grease for guns. KG makes the best dry lubes I’ve ever used and the best moly grease as well. That’s my trigger dope. As far as a real world protectant, Marine Tuff Glide has kept all my hunting rifles and shotguns in good shape for about 30+ years. Anything steel that you need to weatherize would benefit from a coat of this.

Break Free CLP and Birchwood Casey Barricade (formerly known as “Sheath”) are a couple more of my long time favorites. I’ve amassed a pretty decent collection over the last 40+ years of collecting and have tried a lot of products. I’ve whittled the list down to a choice few over the years. I still use Balistol (rarely) but I also still gripe about the smell. I mean come on, does it have to stink that bad? I love the smell of Barricade and Hoppe’s number 9.
