Polish AKM Build

I took the plunge and decided I should build my first ak. I mean, I've put plenty of ARs together, how hard can a commie blaster be? Hit with hammer to spec.

I scoured the forums, builder sights and priced everything I could. I like deals. And I like cheap. AKs are quickly becoming neither deals nor cheap, so I am building one. I was greatly inspired by Bors on NES with the classic sh*t shovel AK.

Found a basic 80% receiver and lucked out on a $250 polish akm kit from Southern Ohio Gun. The SOG kit was very very nice, and is likely the same as the $310-350 polish kits. I gambled and won.Got a 1967 numbers matching, good shape wood akm. Everyone seems has gotten junk from Sportmans Guide.

I was so excited to get the complete kit in, I ran around yellin allahu akbar with my flopping ak parts.

Barrel should be in next week. US parts will be in today. This build is at $475 for everything. Now to put my youtube gunsmith skills to work.

Where'd you get your receiver (and what kind?) and what kinda barrel? I want more details.

Barrel is arms of America $100 non chrome lined I'll be finishing it with spry and bake likely.

The 80% is a polish blank from ak builder. I will drill and heat treat it then spray it once the barrel is assembled.

All us 922r parts came in. The magpul grip is identical to the MIAD. Not bad. will see how I like it once lower is heat treated.

This I fully understand. It was a joke. But I wanted the challenge and couldnt justify spending $800+ on an AK.

I am also open to meeting up with beer to anyone that wants to help out fitting the barrel and heat treating. Does anyone have a kiln setup?

Do you have or know someone who has the jigs to drill the trigger and hammer pin holes and the saftey selector holes. You need to find someone who can weld the rails in the receiver.

No jigs yet. I printed a template. If I couldn't borrow a set, I will likely split one with my buddy who is building the exact same.

Yes, but I only use nodak spud receiver s.
