Why not just have one pistol that you train with, you sleep by and you trust rather several with differing parts and mechanics?
(Within reason I mean a g19 and a g17 don't differ much other than weight and size)
(A larger 1911 is the same as a smaller and so on)

It can be a 1911, and HK, a glock etc, but I don't think having a different flavor gun for every occasion is good.

Then again I don't know much pertaining to firearms combat and don't get to take a lot of classes much. Just applying my logic.

I still think you bought the m&p just so you wouldn't need to say you bought a glock :P

So why go with the 1911 as the night stand gun? I would honestly have been more likely to do it backwards, keeping the gun that holds more rounds where I might not be dressed with a reload on me.

I owned many glocks. I was never a fan of the sights nor the trigger. Yeah, I could change them out but after shooting the M&P, I liked the ergonomics. Added the APEX DACEK and if it proves reliable, it should be a great addition.

Accuracy wise, I feel confident with the 1911 and thats what I want if I have to shoot in my house!

Didn't like the glock trigger, buys an m&p and works on the trigger :D

    You shooting this weekend?

My husband was a dyed in the wool 1911 user. He knew and still knows the cons against 1911s as defense weapons. He made the choice with knowledge.

He has recently swapped because he accepted the pros of striker fire outweighed his 1911 love affair.

I mention this because buying multiple guns of the exact same type was exactly what he did. He also went from .45 to 9mm because it's what I shoot. Now both of us carry the same thing. His logic and yours are very similar. In this case a G19 is a G19 is a G19.

The credit card took a hit but it was a need to situation. He went with Glock because it wasn't a small incremental change. He flipped house, truck and carry weapons overnight. (Not going into detail but the 1911 cons bit him) Glock prices made it affordable and they're reliable.

Not to debate 1911 vs Glock. Just commenting that using the same weapon everywhere is a smart decision. I have an HK. It came from a... family of four, so to speak. There are three other HKs in that small collection that were exactly, the same. Car gun, house gun, carry gun and a back up.

M&P9. Need to run it hard and see how it performs. You going on SUNDAY? Bring that 19 so I can shoot it.

I might, I sent the rmr back to trijicon yesterday and put a delta point on it. It needs to he sighted in. Bring what you would normally bring and if I can get out there I'll bring that 19 and shoot a 17. Hell, I might I've your m&p a shot.

Why does every thread that brings up 1911's have to have the same handful of people come with the same rhetoric every time. My G19 has already jammed more on me than my STI ever has which is never.

You must have been touched by baby Jesus because Dawg23 has a range Glock that gets shot I believe 3 or 4 times a week and has never been cleaned and he bought it very used. Shot it until it melted the slide track out of the plastic. I've never personally witnessed a Glock jam.
