I thought parade weapons were ceremonial rifles, like realistic-looking color guard .
Eh. Got any cost comparisons w/ inflation? Contrast those with our current economic situation.
Why would I need any? The cost is irrelevant to the fact that it is an American tradition, has been an American tradition, and asking the media to finance our traditions makes about as much sense as asking the film industry to pay for maintenance on our national monuments because they get some use out of filming things the government was doing anyways.
I know the media is an easy target here, as it should be, but this one is just nonsense.
Because if you're talking about /trillion/ dollar deficit, it's even dumber to worry about the fraction of a drop of water in the bucket that is this ceremony than it is to worry about NASA's budget, compared to the /actual/ deficit problems.Ok ok. Getting the media to pay for an event is out there. But really. Why cant there be a cap to the expenses. I'm more pissed that we havent had a balanced budget in 5 years.
Ron Paul.

Fine by me. Less guns= less protection.
I'm good with that.
I hold a lot of respect for those guys. Regardless of how they feel about the president and what he does to their country they remain stern to strict orders. My experience of the Secret Service is they view everyone and everything as a threat to the president. Period. With such a divided country these days, I bet they work extra hard.
It's still disrespectful in my opinion.
