I'm about to take the class for a Louisiana conceal permit, and I've been doing a little reading in advance. Today I came across a great article that I wanted to share: "Practicing Concealed Carry With No Fear," by David Woodbury. Many of you have had these thoughts already, and what he says won't come as news. Other beginners might want to check it out. A quote:

"Even though I’m a Registered Maine Guide, even though I’ve hunted for 40 years, even though I’m an Army veteran, even though I’ve been a security manager, even though I have long owned firearms of several types... Here are a few things that happened to me once I began carrying daily.
1. I forgot that the gun was on me.
2. I dropped it in public.
3. I left it in a desk drawer that others had access to, loaded and ready.
4. I forgot where it was in the house after I had gone to bed.
5. While it was on me, I forgot whether it was locked.
6. The very first day I started carrying, my employer sent me on an overnight trip."
Etc.! What I like about it is the honesty, the humor and the solid practicality of his suggestions for preparing to conceal. I found it helpful reading. The link:1. I forgot that the gun was on me.
