The engraving absolutely blew me away. Mike is really amazing at what he can do on plastic and steel but this piece just made my jaw drop. To be able to do the work along the slight contour of the stock and have it come out without looking like a flat impression is amazing.
Thanks for all the kind words guys. These rifles didn't come together as easily as they do with pre-cut composite stocks so I'm proud that the fit and finish turned out like it has.
Actually....it's one of two. My brother's is almost finished as well. His is more of a tactical, DBM, style but still features a wooden laminated stock with the crest.
Weather permitting we should be test driving them next weekend. It will be the first time my dad pulls the trigger on a live centerfire rifle in almost 30 years!
Spent nearly 5 hours at the range today celebrating gun appreciation today with my brother and my dad!! My father got to shoot his new rifle along with a few "evil black assault rifles".....he's hooked! We were too busy cutting up to remember to get grouping pictures, but the capabilities of the new bolt actions are well under .25moa. I was extremely impressed with the '06 shooting some old surplus reloads I had sitting in back of the closet. It shined with a match load I put together last night though. With a little more practice I'll be out shot once again by the man who bought me my first BB gun and showed me how to shoot it. It truly was a special day for all of us!
