20 years is all they will give him? I was thinking it would be much more than that.

They could stack the charges and punishment if they wanted too but I doubt they will. Technically speaking if they gave him the max on all charges and stacked them all he would never get out.

He's supposedly eligible for up to a 45 year sentence, but realistically will probably be between 10 and 20 years. This according to Chick Foret on Channel 4.

Well finally there is some justice for this POS and his antics. He had a golden opportunity to transform New Orleans into a great city and totally blew it...Chocolate City my ass...In his first term he did do some great things and thought he did a good job. Second term he went to s&$t and the Katrina debacle ruined him. Hopefully he and the Jeffersons are thing of the past for NOLA and Landrieu and Serpas keep their noses clean. New Orleans deserves the best out there and while I am a moderate Republican I think Landrieu has done a great job so far....His sister is another story. Hope Nagin gets plenty of time and fines.

It was an intersting case. The government paraded witness after witness who had confessed to, and was serving time for, bribing Mayor Nagin.

Nagin's defense was, "Who you gonna believe - me or these lying, bribing convicts?"

Is what Nagin did, and what the politicians the likes of Mary Landrieu do; much different?

I mean; they pay several times more than the job pays to get elected.
They get elected and go in with only whatever they earned or what they may have inherited. And come out multimillionaires!
They get to keep what ever money is left in their campaign coffers.
They spend tax payer money to cover personal expenses (most don't get caught).
    They sell their votes.
They exempt themselves from the very laws they impose on the populace.
They have the best medical care in the world, with no wait for treatment.
They try much harder to be re-elected than when they were first elected.

Nagin was a straight businessman and nice guy when he and I drank a beer at a table at Marc Morial's leaving office party.

    They all are!
