Can't speak for them but you could in years past. If you can find it that is :dogkeke: the ammo to go prices last year had been good. Around the online price without shipping cost.

And no steel case ammo in the AR's or M-16's

I gotta ask, why do you say "Escape" from north LA? I'm looking at a job in Shreveport and am wondering if it might not be a good idea from your comment.
That's too bad. I escaped from north LA almost 20years ago and I AIN'T GOING BACK!!! Not even for this.

Shreveport has some very nice areas and from what I hear Bossier City right across the Red River is much nicer. I have some family there and go every so often and from I've experienced there is a different mix of people I haven't quite experienced anywhere else.

Eating at fine dining establishments such as "Ihop" left me feeling I was visiting a different planet or at the very least an alternate reality in the space time continuum. Of course Ihop is more of your lowest common denominator to begin with.

I guess the best way to summarize would be if ignorance is bliss, Shreveport is very blissful.

Coonie you'll love it compared to IL.

Ruston is one of the best places I've ever lived. Worked in Monroe, lived in Ruston. Fished and Hunted all over the place. Even Arkansas's resources are just right there.

Having a major University there has it's perks too. Ruston is the fastest growing city in the state and the word is and has been it's the wealthiest city per capita in the State too.

Any City that can support TWO Starbucks and can't keep the doors closed has a booming economy. You could start a roach cleaning business in Ruston, and it would flourish lol

I did six years in monroe in two seperate stints @ NLU. I can't say exactly why, but I find the entire area depressing. Being from the coast, I found it hard to believe the people up there consider themselves "Louisianians"? The food is horrible. There's absolutely zero cultural identity. They call themselves the Arkalamiss for pete's sake!!! Choose one!! It's like Limbo. Boring, flavorless limbo. It'd been OK if they told me I was in Arkansas, or Mississippi....but they kept insisting they were in Louisiana. It's not the Louisiana I know and love.

Some good hunting and nice lakes for fishing....but lots of places have that.

Can't comment on shreveport, but I hate the airport. On the <maybe> bright side, the hollywood casino paid for my wedding.....

And ruston.....no thank you. Every street in ruston is one way and goes directly to the center of town. Couple that with the majority population in ruston and monroe being college students and it's just not a very nice place to live. IMO.

    Shreveport - or therebouts
Decent food in Shreveport and Bossier, but the seafood just isn't near as good until you get down below Alexandria. I think Bossier still has a lower crime rate than Shreveport and I attribute that to a superior police force. I grew up in Bossier, but moved out in the country about 7 years ago. It was nothing against Bossier, I just stopped liking people in general.

    Too bad it's in Ruston.
8 1/2 hr drive for a 5 hour event, considering fuel & ammo pricing...
Hate to say it, I'm going to pass this one....methinks!

    Thanks for the info Hitman.

I see some posts with a negative tone, but your damn right, anything is better than IL, especially Chicago. I have an appointment on the 30th with AT&T, and if all goes well, I'm gonna start hunting for a place to rent. I'm hoping to find something outside of town and drive in. I'll let the wife pick the permanent place to live, while I get to pick the hunting/fishing shed in the middle of nowhere. My ideal spot is a small parcel with a spot to build a small weekend cabin that I can open the front door, fire a few reloads into a chrono (I should say through a chrono.) and not bother a single soul for miles.

Again, many thanks for the info, And my apologies for hijacking the thread. Happy Birthday Red Jacket!

I've lived in New Roads for the past 10 years and hate it. Years ago I lived in Ruston for 10 years and loved it. S'port ain't bad but Bossier is better. Monroe sucks but West Monroe is better. Your mileage may vary. :pimp:
