I always forget to take before pictures, but guy brought me this shotgun and it had to be sitting in his boat for 3+ years everything was rusted shut. Did full strip, polish, sand, and 5 coats cold blue and not to bad now.

Glad it came out good, no doubt.
I would love to know the story of that luger from the time it left the factory, for sure.

Here is the luger ..... refinished.... total time I spent about 12 straight hours. Okay from the original the outside was cleaned up mostly and touched up, with old gun like this didn't want to do to much to its age. On the inside this thing was rusted top to bottom, I spent 7 hours hand sanding, polishing, every part in there. The action is nice and crisp, replaced a lot of worn springs, etc...

This was a trade in to my friend David who owns Southland Police Supply, it has the last 2 digits of the serial on every part on the gun with a "N" for the letter I dated 1918 to 1920...but on the inside I put the same tune I do to any other handgun for a customer, I want to shoot this dam thing now before I bring it back to him.

wow, $1000 worth of work. I think that collector's prefer original finishes, even if they are bad? I've been told that refinishing a gun detracts tremendously from the collector's value. I haven't followed Luger prices since the 1970, they went insane about then.

ummm I don't charge $1000 worth of money for that.... you must use expensive gunsmiths. This person wants it to shoot and operate, and the inside was rusted solid...the outside I 100% guarantee no one is going to look at what I did on the outside and find anything. You can fix up a lot of non heavy pitted or damaged areas with the correct stones/wool/oil/etc..

In person, unless you are some kind of fanatic (and someone is trying to sell it for more than its worth) you can not tell what things I touched up. On the inside everything that is a contact point is polished to feed ramp quality and everything else just had all the rust removed.
