Does anyone reload lead bullets for their Glock pistols? I've heard both ends of this and want to know what everyone has to say.

I have HKs and Glocks and I only load FMJ or JHP due to the rifling. Now my 1911 I load Bayou bullets or Alpha Bullets.

I have a G34 that is getting harder and harder to find FMJ of even plated bullets to reload for. I carry a G22 on duty so I dont want to handle too many different pistols and change my form and reloading techniques. I also use Bayou Bullets in my 1911 and would like to use lead in my G34. I might as well spend the $110 dollars and go shooting than sit around the house waiting for 9mm FMJ/Plated bullets to come back in stock. That price is a cheap set back to becomeing a better shooter in my opinion.

Coated as in a Bayou Bullet?

Just for comparisons sake. 147gr BB and 147 XTP. Both run about 900fps out of a stock glock barrel with Zero issues.

My 200gr .40 BB's out of a stock glock 35 barrel run close to the same.

Next to the 200gr .40 is a 125gr lead 9mm. I have personally noticed the cast lead bullets lead the barrel pretty quickly, especially when pushed above 1050fps or so. I really wouldn't use an uncoated lead bullet in a stock glock barrel. They seem to do ok below that speed though.

There are TONS of guys here that are more knowledgable than me about it, but that's my .02.

I have heard the same thing and I do not shoot any 9mm ammunition that is that slow. Most of what I shoot (Defensive or Range) runs between 1,100 FPS and 1,300 FPS.

Ya I Definitely wouldn't push a lead bullet past 1200 even in an aftermarket barrel. They just lead the crap out of everything.

In my 34 LW barrel, I pushed some 115 lead bullets up to about 1250 and the smoke/ barrel leading was atrocious.

I have put approx 30k of Donnie's bullets down the barrel of my 34 with absolutely zero issues. Only clean every 2-3k rounds and even then very minimal lead.

I have approximately 10k GAT's 230 LRN through a G21 with no issues but those are slow (about 825 fps). Just started with Donnies Bayou Bullets for my G19, waiting to chrono.
