ILION, N.Y. — Remington Arms will be staying in the Mohawk Valley for the foreseeable future. Two days after sources say Remington Officials met with three State Senators and three Assembly, U.S. Congressman Richard Hanna announced that the Pentagon would be awarding Remington an $80 million contract.
In the meeting, sources say, Remington told the State lawmakers that they were moving forward with a $20 million upgrade to their plant that employs 1,200 people.
Hanna said that the contract calls for Remington to make more than 5,000 sniper rifles and millions of rounds over the next 10 years for the U.S. Special Operations Command.
Concerns were raised about the company's future in Herkimer County after the Legislature passed a law banning the sale of military-style rifles, including the Bushmaster product made at the Remington plant. Since the law was passed in mid-January, other states have shown interest in having Remington relocate the plant.

I really cannot fault any company for not wanting to screw over the workers and people that make the company what it is, and move to another state.

No one with any sense would condemn Remington for /not/ moving to another State. They've been around for over a century in one form or another, and have many families that made them what they are, and continue to contribute and need/support them.

I also strongly doubt the contract had /much/ to do with this. Gov contracts are posted for bid requests for quite a while before they're awarded.

They won't be receiving anymore of my money. Way I see it is put your money where your mouth is. Or in this case, you can choose a libtard socialist state over your customer base. My one person embargo will likely have little effect, but I would rather spend that money on a company that stands on principle instead.

They probably realized the cost of packing up and moving an entire factory for $0.00 more revenue every month would be asinine. The state didn't ban the manufacture of Remington's products, so why would they move?

    I'll make it a 2 person embargo.

Also, how many decades have they been there? How many years has the state been so vehemently anti-gun? What's to say the tide doesn't turn in due time? If a company chose to succumb to whims of politics like this, how many times would you have to move? How would you make money, incurring costs of relocation every 4-20 years? States can be very surprising in their political shifts. Who would've thought Colorado, a goddamned Cowboy state would have turned so hard, just now? What's to say they don't see a resurgence back away from it?

Businesses can't survive if they think short term and take such huge gambles.

Most employees don't understand not comprehend employers decisions. That's why some are employers and some employees.
Others are capable of both and can do either very well.

Anyone who has been to colorado in the past 15 years, especially in Boulder/Denver/Aurora area could tell you they were going full tilt libtard from the amount of Californians coming in...

I refuse to provide money to companies and thereafter anti-gun state politicians for them to use it to take my rights away...

If companies make the right choices on relocation, then they only have to do it once, if at all.

The day Texas goes liberal and does not secede first is the day ALL of our conservative pro-gun culture is DEAD...

I agree, but with the pentagon deal timing I can't help but wonder if some NY Senator cashed in on a favor. Of course I tend to think that's how politics work today.

I think the tide has turned for good in Colorado. You had a beautiful state with a relatively sparse population due to its terrain, public land ownership, rural lifestyle, etc. Then overwhelm that population with California outmigrants, Colorado University academicians, along with the trend of weak minded voters falling for and becoming dependent on democrat ********, and the old Colorado population is gone for good.
