What might have been a "suicide by cop" ended in the suspect's arrest and booking, thanks to what Kidder's colleagues say was his "great restraint."

He's very lucky that it didn't escalate further. It's a tough time for LEO's wearing body cams. One poor choice can ruin your career and start a city wide riot.

Glad he got to go home that night. Pretty sure I'd have been filling out paperwork all night.

It's odd that the guy surrendered immediately upon the arrival of a second officer if his goal was to get shot.
I hope that this officer's "restraint" doesn't get him killed one day.

I hope not either but the officer seems pretty intelligent. First observing the non sagging of the pocket, but later stating that one he fell to the ground he would have used deadly force if the suspect went to get on top of him to attack.
