Can anyone tell me where to find information on Sarasqueta shotguns? I Know it was produced in Spain in the 1960s. It was passed down from my Uncle years ago and have always wondered the history of it. Mine is a 12 gauge that is moderately engraved. Any information would be appreciated.

Got one on the way from Century. Did you hear about the "odd-lots" flier they sent out? I ordered two of the odd-lots guns. There were about 150 Spanish shotguns from the 60s and before that were imported from Israel.

The deal that I've heard is the Spanish workmanship is not as good as the English workmanship. It's manifest primarily in the engraving and in some receiver steel that's not as hard as in modern shotguns. This means no steel shot, or you'll ruin your barrel.

I don't know much about it. As I said, my Uncle passed it on to me. It really is a sweet gun. It's been my primary for Deer in Alabama and Pearl River. The only problem I ever had was a broken firing pin about 20 years ago.Unfortunately it was trained on a nice six at the time. As expected, I froze expecting a delayed fire and missed the deer. The rest of the trip I was not a happy camper. Any links you could provide would be great. Thanks for the info.

Any pictures I would like to see your Victor Sarasqueta

    http://www.aya-fineguns.com/descargas_en/00001_t.pdf

If John Manton was the father of English gunmaking - making artists out of blacksmiths, as James Purdey described it - then Victor Sarasqueta was the father of the Basque fine-gun trade. Sarasqueta established his company in 1881, and for the next hundred years set a high standard for Spanish "best" guns. Although Sarasqueta was the oldest, however, his company was not the largest, nor was it the most famous.

I will get some pictures today and try to post them to show the detail. Thanks for the links. What awesome weapons! Mine is not close to the beauty of some of those, but I am just as proud.

We took several pictures and will try to post them. The following is a list of the makings on the shotgun:
Barrel (best that I can tell) FGCIABLA HERMANDOS-EIBAR MADE IN SPAIN on top
Under barrels Choke 18 but also see 18.2 and 18.6 on each plus 1000kgs
    HZ under left barrel
Foregrip the number 290 on wood and steel
Receiver ZH in box and numerous Hallmarks

The factory of production ZH= ZABALA HERMANOS... HZ is H2=1962 a good chance you have the SXS- Boxlock.
If you look right behind the trigger guard on metal tab you might see cursive writing looks like initials, it not, it is a model number if there.

I could not find anything on or near the trigger guard, but did note the serial number inside the receiver. It is 94290. Thank you again for the information.
