We still have a long way to go before either SB81 or HB556 becomes law.

Our first order of business should be to write a thank you email to every legislator that you wrote to or called seeking support. In your thank you emails to the Representatives, be sure to ask them to vote for SB81 without amendment when it reaches the house floor (or if they are criminal justice committee members when it reaches their committee). In your thank you emails to the Senators, be sure to ask them to vote for HB556 without amendment when it reaches the house floor (or if they are Judiciary B committee members when it reaches their committee). This lets them know that you are both appreciative and continuing to watch the bill's progress.

It is a pain, but it can have big dividends if we pull this off.

I wish it was a done deal already, but I'm happy to start emailing, and calling again. It is a very worthwhile endeavor.

If we get lazy and complacent we'll one day wind up like some of these other states.

CRANK IT UP GUYS AND GALS.

    Dan,

Thanks for everything that you have done on this and other legislation. It is amazing that it passed the house 96-1!!! Only Rep. Barbara Norton voted against the legislation!!!

You are right that the work has only just begun. Each step in the process becomes bigger and more challenging as the bill works through the process. Everyone should be contacting their Senators and Representatives in Baton Rouge to thank them and ask them to continue their support for HB556 and SB81.

It would be a huge victory for gun rights in Louisiana if this piece of legislation is passed through the legislative process, signed by the Governor and becomes law.
