So, in my search for a Colt AR lately, I've come across the rifle I want. It's a Colt LE6933, but it has a 11-1/2" bbl.

Here is my question. Who can I ship it to to pin a flash hider to make over 16". The key thing is, I need to do this before I get it, or can I have it shipped here and then my FFL hand it over to a gunsmith and put the flash on?

I figured I would go this route and then apply for my SBR and also for a suppressor.

    Any ideas?

Yeah the problem is that the thing is not local so try to tell the sellers FFL to take it apart for you and send it in separate boxes

    ...................

The thing about it is that the lower is technically registered since its the serialized #, so you would still have to apply for the transfer of that item IIRC

Call Derek with Big Boy Armament, he does that on daily basis

I dont see what the gain would be if its indeed like that on splitting the upper from the lower, since you would still have to wait on the aprooval just to take the lower home ............

Even if it's in two separate boxes, I've still been told it's illegal to possess since it's "constructive possession" in that you can make it an illegal SBR in two seconds with two pins.

If you already have a registered SBR lower, then you'd be GTG, I've been told, but hey... who knows if this "advice" has ever been tested

Get the lower shipped to your ffl and the upper shipped to your house? Keeps em seperate and you could take it to your smith for the process and assemble later. Don't know if that is legal or not but it seems like it would be to me.

That's what I'd do (separated it), BUT....

That's a registered lower, correct? That might confuse things.

Call the ATF, Nick, for sure.

I would think that if the lower is already registered as an SBR lower then you'd have to do a transfer for it regardless of what upper is or isn't on it. Just mycommon sense but I'm sure one of the SOT's will chime in soon.

    Ritten is corect

the colt 6933 is a SBR registered/manufactured by colt, a "factory" SBR. So if the upper is installed or not the 6933 lower will transfer like any other NFA item.

It can be removed from the registry, but it would not really make sense to do so...

You want a 11.5 inch barrel with a permantly attached 4.5 inch flash hider?
