Never messed with .22LR or anything rimfire for that matter. Are these rounds more volatile? If there is a jam do I need to be easy with it? Ricochets...I hear about this a ton.

    Thanks.

I'm working on 18,000 rounds through my Ruger 10-22 from the Mid 90's. Still a Tac Driver with a Tasco 4x32 Over/Under sights/

I find a failure far and few between when shooting the Remington BULK as opposed to the Federal Bulk. Also I've never had a FTF/FTE shooting CCI/Stingers.

The Ruger 10/22 is too durable and to cheap to not have at least one in your home!

Plus a couple folks make a 30 round banana mag for it too. Comes in handy!

Did I mention I've NEVER broke it down and cleaned it.......

I'll sum it up this way: Anyone who enjoys shooting owes it to his or her self to own at least one .22....

Get one. You will not regret it. :) The Ruger 10/22 rifle that Hitman speaks of is a great choice.

You need to keep the .22lr ammo dry, they go bad easily.

I don't have a .22LR, but I do have a .22 Magnum. I usually buy bullets, take them directly from box, and fire. Still get a dud every 100-200 or so. I try to fire them again and they still won't go. No, I'm not shooting them in the rain, I just think it's part of dealing with rimfire ammunition. Then again, I bought that bargain Remington UMC 9mm pack this weekend because I was out of 9mm lead to load. One of those was also a dud.

I find the remington Bulk to be much more accurate than the federal and winchester bulk...

It's still not extremely accurate but it's accurate enough for what I do with my .22. I wouldn't feel confident shooting at a squirrel's head at 50 yards with the winchester or federal.

For pistols, the Ruger 22/45 or MK-III are tack-drivers and VERY dependable! Like the 10/22 there are TONS of add-on goodies if you like to customize!

10/22 is definitely one tough .22lr rifle to beat. For value, it is probably one of the best .22lr rifles on the market. I'm always having a blast with mine. After 3-400 rds, I don't feel so guilty and I had fun shooting.

Model 60 Marlin for the win! Yeah, not as many mods available as with the 10/22 but they are accurate, dependable great shooting guns and cost a little less to boot! Get the long tube fed for 18 rounds of plinking fun without messing with magazines!

    Thanks.

How can one grow up in South Louisiana and not be familiar with the .22 LR ?

We took them everywhere when we were kids. Daddy bought us .22LR ammo in wooden cases of a gadzillion rounds each.

Shot beer cans, snakes, nutria, squirrels, rabbit, coons, etc.

Was a big part of childhood and taught us a lot about firearms and safety.

I have several for my grandkids & nephews.

I was shooting a model 9422 yesterday and they are great because lever guns will feed and eject most everything. I did learn something new yesterday too. I was shooting CB's through it at a baking pan which is pretty thin metal and none went through. lol
