Just recently purchased a 300 WSM. Anyone have ideas on a scope that can handle recoil. And also if a 4.5 x 14 50 mm is too much for deer hunting.

Any decent scope should easily handle the recoil of a 300WSM. "Too much scope" is extremely subjective. You will want to tailor a hunting scope to your budget, weight requirements, shooting distances, light levels, caliber restrictions, and personal preferences. Leupold makes a good VX-III 4.5-14x50 in a 1" tube with capped knobs that won't weigh you down. However, if you like exposed turrets and want a little more light transmission that a 30mm tube provides, The Vortex Viper HS LR is a 4-16x50 that will give you better flexibility. Both companies make great glass in their mid-range scopes and up.
