Thanks! I get all my stencils from sickstencils.com. They are a thicker plastic (Mylar I think) but because they are thick, offer a greater shading value due to them not laying completey flat. My next attempt is going to be their "hex" camo pattern. Going to try and cut them accordingly to lay perfect on the work.
My buddy's SBR AR I did couple weeks ago, wasn't impressed with Lauer Weaponry's color match to their claim to Magpul FDE, but I've been told its darkened up a little more since assembly and matches a little better than the pic.
You can blast them with aluminum oxide, I just use scotch bright pads, not the cheap green ones but the rougher maroon colored ones, if the metals in real bad shape I'll blast it. Duracoat recommends that you just rough up the surface.
Cost is low, one 4 oz bottle of the stuff is $17, an airbrush kit from harbor freight is $10. And by the way I've used that same $10 airbrush kit for every job I've done so as long as you keep them clean they will last. Application is simple, it's almost impossible to make a run in the paint and it drys extremely fast. Deeper pit or scratches will require more coats
