That is the question. I had planned on selling my xd 40 sc and all my 40 gear to purchase a 34 or a 17l both of which were for sale on here. Now with my pistol unsold and both of those sold and me having the itch( non sexually transmitted) I want a longslide. I found a couple 17l's and 34's on gunbroker and gunsamerica i could purchase. Or I can take my 19 and convert it to a 34 with custom slide and barrel. buying a gun out right would give me an extra physical gun. having slide set off to the side in a case only bringing it out when i go to the range.

i never plan to shoot any of the guns in a competition. i do range only and i keep it as a hobby instead of a sport. i tend to get annoyed and get aggrivated with sports.

If I had no plans of using it for anything but a range toy, I'd go 17L and not look back.

I would not mess around with converting the G19. The G34 is fine and dandy, but it does nothing the 17L won't do better and it's not nearly as distinctive.

Some feel the G17L is a little top heavy and slightly slower back on target compared to a G34.
The G34 is slightly easier for most people to draw also.
    I have owned both.

id rather a custom gun than a stock one.

this first picture is my 19 it has a lw slide, efk dragonfire barrel thats been crowned. ameriglo sights, titanium slide stop pins, and trigger job. also i have the grip force adapter on it now but it is not in the picture.

the second pic is what the slide would look like as far as finish. i would also get my 19 slide finished the same if i were to go the slide route.

The joys of being a revolver guy.

    Should I get a 17 (that's a K frame 22) or a 34 (that's a J frame 22 - much smaller. Hard to think about comparing them), or change my 19 (K frame 357) into a 34 (J frame 22?!?! How the hell is he gonna accomplish that??)

    I read more.

    Oh. Glock.

    Never mind.

Ahhhhh...I took it as a "budget" question at first. I'd still say more guns = better. Keep the 19, and grab a 17L or 34 and trick it out from there. I personally prefer the 19 grip, but a 19 with a longslide top end wouldn't be very well balanced.

Do they even make a long slide that fits the 19 frame? If you're talking about something that had to be truly custom made, it'd be easier to just chop down a 17L/34 frame to 19 size if that really is the end goal.

I have both the 34 and 17L (and a 17 and 19, 26...) and prefer the 17L over the 34. Not much difference but the 17L seems to balance better for me (while shooting fast). Either are very accurate (I can tell the difference between them) and are more accurate than the 19 or 17. I am not much of a fan of the 19 grip as my hands do not fit it, but any of the full size glocks fit me just fine! I also consider the 35 to be about the perfect platform for 40 as I have found! But that is for another discussion.

Bottom line, you cannot go wrong with either!

The sight radius is the biggest difference in the Glocks as far as you shooting them accurately.
My G4 G17 shot a better group from a rest than my old G3 G34 but I shot the G34 slightly better at 25 yards.
    The G3 G34 was 1 13/16" and the G4 G17 was 1 3/16" at 25 yards rested with 124+P HST.

    So much for perfection eh?

Previously owned LOTS of Glocks and the 34 was the most accurate of them all. Perhaps the most accurate pistol I've EVER owned. Just a freakin drill.

I'm down the the group here that if you're going custom, start with metal frame and make it truly custom. But then again, it's not my wallet that being opened either.

    Good luck, either way.
