I'm considering a purchase of a Siaga 12ga which has been converted to the pistol grip stock. I'm not all that familiar with the reliability of this system. Can anybody help?

Most of them require work to be reliable, but once they run they will eat anything. They tens to have a bad rep, but alot of the issues present themselves with cheap birdshot/target ammo due to the fact they are designed for hunting/military appliations using full power loads.

Red Jacket....What type of work might be required? Is it something on my end or something for the professional gunsmith?

I'm not Will (FAR from it!) but typically it involves tweaking the gas ports and smoothing out the action. Some of the issues will even work themselves out after a break-in period with high brass loads. A professional will obviously do it better, but most of it is very doable on your own depending on skill level. There's tons of info available over at saiga-12.com.
