The Facebook page of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence has taken notice:
In the next issue look (while on the news stand and not in your shopping cart) for Brady campaign or some other anti-2A group to buy up some advertising space.

At any rate, it sounds like HK does give at least some degree of $hit about this matter.

I'll sleep better at night knowing that- because it means so much that they care.

HK does care about the civilian consumer. Please don't misinterpret what I was saying. If they REALLY didn't care, they wouldn;t have made all of those politician friendly versions of their guns, in white, grey, and sometimes black. I actually do want a white SL-8 just because they were never available here, but I also want a black one to convert to a G36, if only I could convert one to a 300BLK.......

They're German, they get protested by their own countrymen, constantly. They know how to deal with tthings diplomatically. Recoil could take a note, sinc ethey apparently have no clue. As a Ford Mustang guy, I have eliminated 2 mags from my reading material. I never read recoil, as most gun mags suck anyway. Getting a gun in my hands is what tells me wether or not it's worth a damn, regardless of the fact that I drank the HKoolaid.

Recoil seems to be a different sort of animal. It's a pretty, high quality presentation that might, just might appeal to people who have a tangential interest in firearms, self defense, etc. It seems more of a high end watch magazine that targets a different market than the too often sophomoric gun magazines. We already have bubba, it's time to focus on capturing people who can grow the market.

If Recoil gets high income professionals interested in firearms by it's mere photography, then that is a good thing. Let them buy into the industry, they'll figure out the politics in due course. Killing the magazine over one statement by one person is counterproductive. It's not a sport shooting magazine by any measure. The issues I've seen have been more along the lines of explaining the business side of trainers and portrays them as entrepreneurs as well as "operators". That should speak volumes to those who have open eyes and objective minds.

One has to move beyond the petty, spring loaded to be pissed off attitude and try to understand the larger issues.

    I disagree.

I think they're worried about "bubba", too. Otherwise, they probably wouldn't have fallen all over themselves explaining their way out of those ill-advised remarks in the first place. SOMEONE in the ranks of both companies was smart enough to "get" that a good portion of the American firearms market- which includes "Bubba"- is tired of being villianized by people who use that very same language, and are less likely to spend their money with an organization who uses it.

I really believe it's as simple as that.

But what the hell do I know. :o

More news on this story, now they trying to flip it back on to HK :)

    QUOTE:

    (From Jager Products)

I was unaware of the controversy until I received an e-mail from a reader expressing his displeasure with the magazine. Then I received a phone call from Recoil, and they explained their side of the story. So then I checked it out myself.

After researching the controversy, and hearing Recoil’s side of the story in a phone call to me yesterday, I’m not happy. They told me this whole controversy is due to comments by the HK rep, and not them. They said people don’t understand that the comments were made by someone outside of Recoil. That wasn’t true – Jerry Tsai’s comments, and comments after that, are what fueled this whole thing. In their call to me, they took no responsibility and passed the buck to the HK rep. I don’t pay the HK rep, I paid Recoil.

Hopefully readers and customers don’t punish guys like me since we paid for our ads before this occurred – which was a big ticket for a small company like me.

I’m with you, and out of Recoil. Too bad, since I’ve jumped in with both feet and ran in every issue – but can’t support a publication that is still ducking responsibility for their actions. I see the formal apology from 9/10, but this is contrary to yesterday’s phone call to me. I cannot support this outfit in good conscience anymore. Add me to the list of advertisers who have pulled out.

Thanks for taking the time to contact me, you were the second one to do so.

    Thanks, Billy Lester

As for HK's supposed complicity in this... the weapon in question is illegal for normal citizens to own, on several levels. To castigate HK for "refusing to sell it", to folks who could not legally own it, is the height of internet retardation.

    I agree.
