I have a S&W model 1000 and started getting light primer strikes. I picked it up many years ago for dirt cheep and never shot it. Recently i started to shoot it and started getting the light strikes. Any info or help will be greatly appreciated.

Chances are it needs a deep inside cleaning, common even in guns that look as good as yours. A word of advice, do not oil the gas piston system. Oil will degrade the buffer washer, causing it to turn into a tarry substance that will virtually lock the piston. Tons of fun to clean out and replace. Other than that, a fine shotgun. GW

I took it down today and cleaned the hell out of it. I think a small piece of carbon or something fell out of the passage for the firing pin. I also noticed the piston shock absorber is now a very sticky and tar like substance. I will be ordering a replacement one and a few other things. Thanks for the help!
