thanks all.....spanky, i started out heavier than you, so that helped with my weight loss...but you are in beast mode with cross fit...it looks fun..but my knees could not take it...so instead my working out is done by riding my fixed gear and mountain bike
The best thing about crossfit is that it's infinitely scalable. Keep up the hard work brother!

yeah but im trying to gain weight...3-4 lbs a month is ideal, 5lbs isnt unacceptable, 5.5lbs in a month would be a failure. Starting weight 170. By mid/ end of summer ill hopefully be in the 200-210 territory, and it will be time to see if i want to keep going or go for a small cut, then back to the grind. I want my olympic lifts to go up.
Trying to minimize an increase in bf%. Its nuts how much im eating to gain weight, its fun but kind of a chore. As long as i get 150+ grams of protien a day, i just eat whatever to get calories in.

Well from all the responces ,you are not alone in your diet, I too, have had a weight problems all my life, but what you have to understand is that you need to find a plan that will work for your lifestyle, sure you can lose weight on the short term, but you need to find a plan you can live with, and every one is different, something that is fullfilling to your needs.. and something that you can stick too...I'm not promoting any one way to do it, but Weight Watchers is a good place to start...you will learn all of the different ways to lose weight and stay healthy.. good luck....you are not alone....

Something that i noticed between Spanky and myself, while he follows Paleo Diet and does crossfit and i follow your eating plan and use fitday.com and exercise byriding my bike; we are both able to achieve weight loss and fitness. For an example in 10 months, i went from wear ing 5xl shirt, now i can wear a size 1xl and lostof total of 166.5lbs. I guess anything can be done once you find a way that you can make work for yourself.

Hi Guys all that wonderful stuff about exercising is great untill you get old then your joints give out and exercising is no longer a option, and diet is the only way to stay healthy, something to think about....and if you are luckey you will get old...

There are lots of options for older individuals. Low impact options. However I think the pool rules all!

Exactly! I think the essential factor in the success that you've both shared has been consistency.

Both of you tied yourself to a plan and stuck with it.

Leaving the REAL overall factor for your success to STAYING THE COURSE!

Good Diet and Exercise is the obvious,
beating back the fat lazy monster inside us all and keeping him down, is the REAL Accomplishment!

yeah, i can't wait to be half my size, i was thinking it might take till august which will be 18 months since i started, based on my current calculations, but i am okay with that, because even at that weight, i am going to continue to eat the same amount of calories and eating plan, and may continue to drop pounds but at a slower rate.
