I've been thinking about weight. Maybe I will get the Timberline 2. It only weighs like 1/2 as much. That is tempting as I get a little older and wiser, actually.

Yeah, it would, but not before it ate him!

I'm thinking a lever or bolt gun in .45-70!
When we were in Canada in the late 60's my dad found a griz in his fish campsite. He was holding my enfield jungle carbine loaded with 10 240 grain 303 british rounds. Looking up at the bear as it crushed an old coleman steel icechest like a beer can he decided it wasn't nearly enough gun... fortunately, the bear decided there wasn't anything else worth eating in the campsite...

Were I to know that I was going to shoot a brownie and be within his running distance during the adventure, I reckon the calibers I would want on hand would be, in order of preference:

    .50 BMG
    .458 Lott
    .416 Remington

Well..... Today I put earnest money down on 4 1/2 acres of land 177 miles North of here. It looks like there might be a cabin on the property and is on a stream that has some of the best fishing in Alaska nearby. It is road accessable and you are welcome to stay there while bouncing around the state! Can't wait to meet you in person LACarry!
