I was told by an unnamed source with knowledge of the situation who advised yes.

Seems kinda dumb to me too.

ETA, I would find it hard to believe that during the present climate they could find a single distributor who could fill such an order.

They are doing this to encourage more officers to carry off duty. Yes a lot of Leos dont carry off duty. shocking I know.

The Bodygaurd is a great little gun. I carry my wife's from time to time, but why not streamline the ammo purchasing and go with what is already a common caliber amongst the officers? By the way, what is the most common caliber carried on duty anyways? Seems more logical to me.

    Most carry a Glock .40 and a few carry a Glock 9mm.

You would think that. But with LSP, that logic goes out the window. The had no problem dumping the .45 when they got rid of the Sig 220's they were carrying up until a couple of years ago.

I do believe the G22 is the flavor de jour.

I'm ASSUMING they went with the Bodyguard because of its size, and the fact that it's hammer fired. When you get into pistols that size, only a few manufacturers make a hammer fired gun, Ruger and Keltec being the other two.

Police admins have this thing about hammer fired guns, and I must admit that I share a fondness of them as well, although I usually carry a Glock of some flavor.

If they needed a small .380 I would have taken a hard look at a few other pistols such as the Sig P238.

I don't see any department adopting a single action pistol of any sort. With the operation of them being so different from DAO, just more training to worry about.

Now the P290 wouldn't be a bad choice, but for it's size, its way heavier than it should be, however it shoots like a dream.

Surprised they passed up the M&P Shield. The .40 cal guys would have still been able to carry the .40 version and the 9mm guys could do the same.
