OFFICER'S MODEL (SECOND ISSUE) .38 Spl. cal.

This Colt revolver was manf. between 1908 and 1926. I think the high luster blue puts it prior to 1916.

Colt intermixed serial numbers in a number of different revolver models during this period. Only way to track done exact date of manf, is to request a letter from colt.

See pictures for desription. The blue is quite excellent for a 95 year old revolver. Some freckling on the grip and around the cylinder release. Everything forrward of this is near perfect. Action is tight and trigger is excellent.

    FTF in Gretna or Metairie

$1250 $1200 cash. I am not interested in trades at this time. Thanks!

    What does second issue mean?

I would say its similar to the dash numbers in S&W.

I do not think colt added this designation, but hobbyists have over the years.

    in this model revolver:

FIRST ISSUE was 1904 - 1908 with the last patent date on gun being 1901.

SECOND ISSUE was 1908-1926. Last patent date on gun being July 4, 1905. (see photo of barrel above)

THIRD ISSUE Mfg. 1927-1949. Last patent date on gun being Oct. 5, 1926.

    thanks...
