So how are the gardens doing?

I snapped a couple pictures of mine this morning.

Ive been slacking on the weeding but everything is growing well.

I had to replant the okra so there are a few tall plants but most are only 3" tall.

I picked 30 cucumbers Monday morning and another 16 this monring. At this point I have picked over 100 for the year and they are just getting going.

These pics are from a week ago. The corn now has tassels fully opened and ears filling out. I can no longer walk between the two rows of purple hull peas, and the cucumbers and snap beans have reached the top of the trellis and are reaching for the sky.

Pulled 102 earn of corn this morning.

Not bad, What variety did you plant?

The week before last we processed a little over 200 ears

My wife was so sick of looking at corn that she sold the next 50 ears and then i gave another 40 or so to my grandmother.

I have canned about 40 pints of purple hull peas and have more to do this evening.

Yesterady I knocked down all the corn since it was done producing, tilled and rowed to plant more purple hull peas and okra.

I had 4 25 foot rows of Silver Queen

That is the variety my grandparents have been growing for years.

I switched to 'Incredible F1' hybrid for a few years back and have had great success. It produces very well with adequate water. I had 4 60' rows and harvested over around 300 quality ears. I lost quite a few to coons, some to ear worms, and there were several dozen still maturing on the plants that were given to the cows when I took the stalks down yesterday.

I'm all in containers this year due to moving. I have mostly peppers, ranging all the way from sweet up to and including the hottest peppers in the world. Also have a few varieties of tomato along with some strawberries for the wife. For anyone interested in container gardening, but not wanting to spend the money on plastic pots that Lowe's etc carry, Dollar General reusable shopping bags are great as pots for only $1 each.
