There was a time when I had almost every handgun caliber that was commercially available....my income was quite different then as well. Nowadays I've narrowed it down to one caliber across board. Other than my .22s,all I own now are 9mm pistols. It's a good all around caliber...it does the job and relatively inexpensive to shoot. I get a little flack about this from friends and peers, not about the caliber, but the fact that I only shoot one type of centerfire caliber. Economically, logistically and ballistically speaking,it makes sense to me. The 9mm cartridge is recognized around the world so I'm not worried about it ever going away...it's been around since 1904. Ok,so if you have an opinion...let's here it.

I feel the same way, although i have chosen 40 caliber. For rifles its either 223 or 30-06. Of course, other than 22's like you say.

I would rather have plenty of ammo, and several guns to shoot it, than small amounts of 4 different calibers and 4 different guns that cannot share.

Oh, i do have a 357 (everybody needs a wheel gun!) and a desert eagle, but those are more for just pleasure shooting, so i dont keep a ton of ammo for them.

All I have and all I really plan on having is 12 gauge, 20 gauge, .410, .223, .22, .45 acp, and 9mm. Only have a few rounds of twenty and .410. I just will never get rid of the two guns I have that shoot them. The only guns I buy are guns that fit into my other calibers. I would love to have a bigger bore rifle, but feeding them is so expensive.

I have switched to mostly 9mm. I own 4 9mm and 1 40 cal at this time. If I buy anymore handguns it will be in the 9mm. The 9mm due to price of ammo compared to my 40. If I were to make some sort of trade it would have to be a 9 or a 40.

You should have switched to 7.62 x 25... more penetration and its cheaper!

I prefer a wide range of calibers. As we've seen, ammo can be scarce. This way you have a better chance of finding something to shoot. Right now I can find .40 and .357, but limited 9mm and .45.

I am pretty impressed. Other than .22LR, I think I have cut down to 15 or 16 handgun calibers. How did you do it?

Lately I've been trying to stay with .40 s&w for competition handguns. That way I don't have to spend money on new reloading equipment.

Handguns. .40 and .380 and the only reason I have the .380 is that I haven't found a suitable every day every situation carry gun in .40.

I think every firearm I own is a different caliber, but I only keep 1 caliber in any significant quantity - .45 ACP. Everything else I might have 50-100 rounds for, but I usually have 5x-10x that in .45.

Assuming I can find it, that is.
