Student looking for place to hunt

Good morning!

I'm a college student who recently became a resident. I am looking for a place to deer hunt this season. I haven't been able to find a place to hunt around Baton Rouge and obviously cannot afford a lease. I am responsible and pack out what I pack in. Are there any suggestions of places I can hunt around BR? I hunt modern rifle in the still hunt. I hunt to eat, and would respect any rules.

Try Sherborne/Indian Bayou, Thistlewaite, or other WMA areas.

The closest areas to you are the WMA's Sherburne and Thistlewaite. Indian Bayou is federal land, I believe. If you can make the hick up norht there is three rivers WMA and red river wma and the natioanl forest.

You can get a permit to hunt Indian Bayou free from the Corps of Engineers. The land is across the Whisky Bay pilot channel from Sherbourne.
