I've had experience with an AAC Element .22 and it is top notch build quality. I've currently got an AAC Titan waiting for a stamp. You deffinatly can't go wrong with AAC, not to mention the great customer service. There are many other manufactuers but I'll be an AAC fanboy for life.

I have an AAC M4-2000. I have had it for almost 5 years. It's held up to some crazy abuse and I have had it glowing red from the heat. Still works great.

I've had a 762SDN6 for about a year now, and have an M4-2000 "in jail", both are excellent cans. I go visit my M4 every so often (the dealer has a range) and play. The 762 does double duty for .30 cal & 5.56 until the M4 gets to come home.

There is a difference but it isn't huge. The m4 2000 will be quieter. The numbers I have seen is the 762 SDN will do about 138 DBL on a 556 and the M4-2000 is like 133 or so. This video may help. It doesn't have the M4 2000 in it but may give you an idea.

AAC is a solid investment. My only complaint is the price of the adapters and the wait to get my hands on it at home.

I really can't tell an appreciable difference at the shooter position.
One day I'll have to get someone to shoot them while I stand off & see what they're like.

You can tell a difference but to me it just sounds like a different tone. I wouldn't say it's louder it's just different. But like you say when shooting it's hard to tell a difference. I'm amassing some cans to demo and hope to eventually have some demos at local shooting ranges so people could actually get some hands on experience with some cans.
