I am sitting here watching TV coverage about the 3 police officers killed in Baton Rouge this morning. This is very unsettling. I really don't understand what is happening. There are just too many occurrences and far too often. The police are the thin blue line that separates us from anarchy. I fear for what is happening and for the world my children and grandchildren will inherit. More people will die as a consequence if police avoid some neighborhoods or hesitate to respond to an emergency due to fear. Or shoot too quickly when confronted with danger. I have heard of some places in which fire and ambulance personnel wait for a police escort before entering some areas. I would guess most of these deaths will be in the poorer and black neighborhoods that need the police most.

So to everyone that reads this that spend much of their working years in the service of others; police, fire, ambulance, military, and teachers: from the deepest part of my heart. Thank you.
