A very special thank you to the M1 owner (Eric?) at Sherburne today for inviting and allowing my boy to shoot your M1. He will certainly remember it for a long time to come.

We had gone up to the Step outside event. Of course we brought a few things to shoot ourselves. Andrew is eleven and spent a couple hours shooting the bullseyes out at 25yards and hitting empty shot gun shells at 50yards using a little Model 5 Remmy with an old 3x9 Leupold on it, that thing is really good and he is getting pretty good with it.
Anyway, we could hear somebody with a Barrett on the rifle range and of course he wanted see it on the way out. We stopped by and he took an interest in a couple of guys with Garands and M14s. One of them noticed and invited him over.
On the way home he kept asking if everyone that shoots is that nice and thoughtful. I told him generally yes and that this fine man was just one excellent example.

I've met a lot of great people shooting there. If you really want your boy to get the itch in a bad way, watch for the next class 3 shoot that members of the board get together for once or twice a year. Then he will never be the same. Half the fun is letting people try out your toys.:D

I have been thinking of exactly that.
Thing is, I have finally got him off his 10/22 and my old Mk nuthin Ruger onto the bolt action Model 5 and my pre 18 Smith. When they start on semi autos it's hard to slow em down.
Today was his first real day with a scope, I have insisted he learn Irons first. As I figured, that scope stuff is already spoiling him. Now to watch him call and hit his shots within a couple of inches at 50 yards was pretty neat for me too.:D
